This article is about How to encrypt Rockspace Extender or securing Rockspace Extender? This issue occurs, if your extender is not obtaining the WiFi Password. Sometimes, rockspace extender does not obtain WEP or WPA/WPA2 security encryption. Due to this extender does not configure to the modem and router.
If you have tried, all the basic instructions are given in the manual, and still, your extender is not connecting. Let’s start from scratch.
1. Reboot Your Modem and Router
If instructions are not helping to get the success. Rebooting modem and router is the best thing to do. Reboot your modem and router, leave it unplug for about 10 minutes.
If you are using modem router combo, unplug it and you are using seperate modem and router, then, unplug both.
Sometimes, the user uses modem which has battery in it. Make sure in this case, you remove batteries from it. And after 10 minutes , insert the batteries again.
2. Check what security encryption settings are set up on your router
After rebooting you modem and router. Next, step woud be to check what security encryption settings are on the router. Sometime the user does not use any security encrytion type, which is consider to be not secured network. Make sure if you are not using any password on the router, try to set the one.
Now, check you are using WEP security encryption type on your router. Then change it to WPS/WPA2 security type. Because, sometimes rocksapce extender does not configure with WEP security encrption type.
Once you change the security type from WEP to WPA/WPA2. Then follow the steps again to setup your extender.
